The Truth in Media Project is a campaign set up by former news anchor Ben Swann. In a series of digital episodes, Swann and his team delve deep into the issues informing the daily news headlines we all see in print and online. Some of the stories that the Truth in Media Project has tackled include the war in Syria, NSA spying, the potential for cannabis to be a useful drug to treat conditions such as epilepsy and others, and more. The project receives funding from small donations on a crowdfunding website and offers views and listeners the truth behind the hype they see in the news.
In its first season, the Truth in Media Project produced twelve episodes on platforms such as Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. Contributors also received free digital copies of the episodes that feature in-depth interviews and investigative reporting on some of the world’s biggest issues today. In addition to the episodes themselves, Swann and his team have also produced radio programs called the Truth in Media Moment, and are driving traffic to Benswann.com, which features reports on some of the issues featured in the videos and radio vignettes. So far, the site has over two million page views.
